Gordon Cumming

Secretary, West Area Committee

Gordon became the Secretary of the West Area Committee in April 2024.

He was a Deputy Secretary from April 2022 and had previously been a constables representative since 2014.

He joined Strathclyde Police in 2003 and was posted in Campbeltown, L division. Gordon worked in various remote and rural areas of Argyll before moving to West Dunbartonshire. Gordon’s posts were always operational at the police frontline and has experience in Public Order and as an Taser trained officer. He is a member of the Scottish Police Benevolent Fund.

Gordon is trained in Equality, Conduct and Health and Safety.


Iain Gray

Chair, West Area Committee

Iain became Chair of the West Area Committee in February 2023.

He joined Strathclyde police in 2002 having previously been a special constable. He has over 21 years police service and has been involved in the federation for about 10 years. Iain has extensive experience in operational policing roles including nearly 20 years in public order and CBRN. Iain has spent time in roles including Area Control Room, custody, front line policing and Glasgow’s divisional Violence reduction unit.


David Taylor

Deputy Secretary, West Area Committee

David became Deputy Secretary of the West Area Committee in April 2024.


Jennie Macfarlane

Deputy Secretary, West Area Committee

Jennie became Deputy Secretary of the West Area Committee in July 2023 having previously served as a divisional representative for 13 years when based in G Division. 

She joined Strathclyde Police in 1999 and was posted to Helensburgh, L Division and has served in various operational roles in both L and G Division. 

She also has experience in Criminal Justice, Operational Planning, and Negotiation. 

She was elected as Sergeant’s representative in 2010 for G Division and again as Inspector’s representative in February 2023. 

She has a longstanding interest in all welfare matters and is trained in both Conduct and Equality and currently holds the portfolio for Conduct in the West area. 


 

Adam Peppard

Vice Chair, West Area Committee

Adam was elected the Vice Chair of the West Area Committee of the Scottish Police Federation in June 2021.

He joined Strathclyde Police in 2008 and was posted to A division within Glasgow City Centre. He has worked within both response and community policing teams across the City centre and west of the City. He also served as the divisions hostel liaison officer. He later worked within U division, Kilmarnock in response policing.

He was elected as the constables representative for U division in 2017. He was elected to the Joint Central Committee as a divisional representative in 2019 and then as the Secretary of the Constables Committee. He was re-elected to the Joint Central Committee in 2023 and 2024.

He is trained in Equality, Health and Safety, Conduct.

He held the portfolio for People and Equality from 2021 to 2024 and currently holds the portfolio for Health and Safety.

Adam is an advocate for mental health and continues to push for better mental health support within policing.
