Crime Figures

Norrie Flowers , Chairman of the Scottish Police Federation said

"An overall drop of 5% is welcome but it is clear that everyone recognises the need for increased policing. Police officers know they could be doing a better job if there were more of them and they had more time to dedicate to crime and disorder complaints.

Our overall numbers are up but when you think about what we have to do you quickly realise why we have fewer officers on the street than we had years ago. In our opinion not nearly enough police are dealing directly with complaints about crime and disorder. We don't have enough preventative patrols, we take too long to get to incidents and we rarely have time to make sufficient enquiries. "
