Swords and Knives

In response to the Executive's announcements on swords and knives, Mr Hugh Little, Deputy General Secretary of the Scottish Police Federation said,

“Every kitchen drawer is full of potentially lethal weapons but we must deal with things designed as weapons.  Restrictions on the sale of swords and knives are welcome.  The Lord Advocate's announcement that offenders carrying knives will be kept in custody and maximum sentences will be called for is something that could really make a positive impact.  To improve Scotland 's appalling weapon culture it will take education, legislation, enforcement and deterrent punishments.”
