SEX OFFENDERS

ACPOS call for debate on "suspected" sex offenders being placed on the register.

Mr Joe Grant of the Scottish Police Federation said,

“We agree that this should be further discussed, and generally support this is as a proportionate development of a risk assessment strategy. Simply put, we understand that the risk of further crimes being committed by a sex offender is far higher than for almost every other crime. The protection of the communities we live in must be the primary consideration and with this in mind, the presumption that sex offenders should be freed on bail should also be overturned.”
